The Beckham's clock up a new home improvement
National style icons David and Victoria Beckham have raised the stakes in the home improvement phenomenon currently sweeping Britain through myriad TV programmes and magazines. As well as their home in Hertfordshire boasting a traditional-style cupola from Hampshire-based designers and manufacturers Good Directions Ltd, they now have two back illuminated skeleton dial clocks, complete with a bell chiming system at their home in France. Victoria's father, builder Tony Adams ordered and installed first the cupola and now the clocks for the couple. "We were very pleased with the service provided by Good Directions", said Tony Adams, "They know their products inside and out and helped to point us in the right direction! The cupola caught our attention as it is such an unusual product that we couldn't find anywhere else". Cupolas have their origins in dovecotes or turrets, and clocks and weathervanes are frequently added in both traditional and modern designs and often adorn the houses of famous names. Good Directions General Manager Paul Mordecai said: "The Beckhams are in good company. Many people think putting a cupola on top of a building gives a stylish finishing touch. They are traditional, attractive and useful." Based in Botley near Southampton, Good Directions sells around 250 cupolas a year in a range of designs and finishes. Many are built to order from architects' designs but Good Directions also has a catalogue of standard models to choose from. Many are for shopping centres, hotels, company and civic buildings, others are destined for private homes.
