Winsford businesses lobby Shadow Chancellor
National Chairman of the FPB, Len Collinson, believes it will be a useful event for business owners in the area. "This event will be an ideal opportunity to raise any business concerns with the Shadow Chancellor, as well as affording time to network with other firms from the industrial estate." The FPB will present the findings of a survey conducted amongst local business for discussion at the event. The research looks at a number of issues such as the north/south divide and the important topics of focus for the next chancellor. Business owners will be encouraged to react to the survey and take part in a question and answer session with Mr Osborne and Mr O'Brien. The Chairman of the Winsford 1-5 Business Environment Group is Gary Chester, who said: "This is a unique opportunity for business owners and managers from the Winsford Industrial Estate to hear first-hand the thoughts of the Shadow Chancellor in relation to the issues and concerns of the local business community. "Equally, it is a great opportunity for George Osborne to see first hand the benefits of co-operative partnership working that can be gained through the relatively new Business Improvement District (BID) structures." The Winsford 1-5 Business Environment Group and the Business Improvement District are project managed by Groundwork Environmental Business Services. Mike Kelly is the Estate Manager; he recognises its importance to the surrounding economy. "Winsford Industrial Estate drives the local economy and in so doing employs 4000 personnel across a diverse-good factor on the estate promoting physical improvements and business support." Greville Kelly, the Groundwork Development Director, said: "We have just completed the first year of a five year programme of work. It is encouraging to work with such a forward thinking business community who are investing so much finance and time into Winsford Industrial Estates long-term prosperity"
