Professor Collinson, who was recently appointed an honorary professor in the University's Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, said of his new post: "The University of Central Lancashire is the first university to recognise that, if you want to encourage students to start businesses, then enterprise should be part of the offering and the curriculum." As well as lectures on enterprise by successful entrepreneurs, the University will give students awards for successful business start-ups. Professor Collinson founded Collinson Grant Group, a successful and international management consultancy based in Swinton, near Manchester. He is Executive Chairman of the Forum of Private Business (FPB), which provides membership services to 25,000 smaller businesses across the UK and has its headquarters in Knutsford, Cheshire. He will work with the University's Centre for Employability and Enterprise and will chair a new, independent advisory group made up of North West business leaders. Professor Collinson lives in Formby.
