Ukulele lessons - face to face or online via Skype and FaceTime
I teach strumming and picking techniques in ukulele lessons. I teach both strumming and fingerpicking techniques using a plectrum or fingers. I use many traditional folk and Hawaiian tunes, but when it comes to strumming chords any tune can be played on the ukulele! I teach pop, folk and Hawaiian styles in mandolin lessons. These can be played as solo fingerstyle arrangements or with chord progressions for strumming! Ukulele lessons are great for young kids. It gives them a start at playing a guitar like instrument if that is what they aspire to play. Soprano ukuleles are the smallest of the ukulele family and are great for kids aged 5 to 6 years. For older children and adults there is a bit more choice. There are four main types of ukulele: soprano, concert, tenor and baritone. In lessons I teach ukulele's tuned to GCEA with the G note being either high or low. Soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles are tuned this way so any of the first three from the list are perfect for your lessons! A soprano ukulele is the smallest on the list and is great for little hands. If you hands are bigger you might prefer a concert or tenor ukulele. However, I have seen many players with huge hands play soprano ukuleles so maybe you don't have to buy a bigger one (which generally costs more).
