We are the original makers of the Royal Sussex Traditional Trug Baskets, dating back to 1829 when they were first made by our founder Thomas Smith, and of the South Down Modern Trug, which we have made for over 27 years now. following on from Dudley & Lawrence Hide who originally designed them and won a Design Centre Award. Our company supplies trade and consumer customers in the , Europe, , the and many other locations Worldwide. We have a great deal of experience in exporting and can offer a door to door service for customers anywhere in the World. Our Royal Sussex Traditional Trugs are made from locally coppiced (, Surrey & ) Sweet Chestnut and Cricket Bat Willow, which is the by-product of the Cricket Bat Industry. There are many designs and sizes to choose from including the Garden, Oval, Flower, Fireside Log, Square, Bowl, Oblong, Cucumber/Wine and Walking Stick Trugs - ideal elderly/disabled gardeners. Our South Down Modern Trug is made from Finnish & Latvian Birch ply and is equally as strong and durable as the original. There is a variety of sizes in Garden, Flower and Picnic Trugs, either in natural finish or stained on the handle and rim in a range of lovely colours. Our new Designer Collection has bright modern colours and our Heritage Collection sees the whole Trug stained in wood finishes. Our Humbug Trug Collection has alternate boards stained in wood colours, Dark Oak, Mahogany, etc.
