Energy saving, photovoltaic flat roofs

An opportunity to get paid to go green with Suffolk Chamber “energywise” and S and N Cladding. Peter Masters, S and N Cladding’s Sales and Marketing Manager, recently attended the latest Suffolk Chamber of Commerce “energywise” business breakfast at the luxury 4 star Seckford Hall just outside Woodbridge.  The object of this latest meeting was to inform local business leaders about grants available to assist companies in lowering their carbon footprint and to assist the Suffolk Chamber in continuing to create the greenest county. (www.greensuffolk.org) One of the main topics of conversation at the meeting was “photovoltaic” systems, which is, coincidentally, the latest breakthrough in flat roofing technology for S and N Cladding. The “photovoltaic” principle allows a single ply roofing membrane to not only provide long term protection against rainwater, but at the same time generate electricity for the building by a direct conversion of solar energy to electric power. A prime example of this breakthrough is a UK high school that not only provides enough energy to supply the entire school, but also generates excess power which is fed back into the grid. You don’t get much greener than this! SUFFOLK and NORFOLK’S recommended photovoltaic systems have been installed on schools, hospitals, offices and other buildings with flat roofs across France, Germany, Italy and here in the UK. However, these energy saving systems are still news to many people, but the word is spreading fast. Lowering your carbon footprint has never been so cost effective!
