Richmondshire District Council - Street Interviews
Following a comprehensive strategic review of their car parking provision Richmondshire District Council recognised the importance of the service as "an essential facility" to the local economy and concluded that both local businesses and tourism had been adversely affected by high car parking charges in the past. A decision was made to retain the latest, lower price structure, but it was recognised that further research would be needed to justify keeping charges at this lower rate in future years. As an element of this ongoing assessment Warwick Equest were briefed to conduct research into the opinions of the car park users at key locations. This research was able to quantify the true economic value of the car parks and was the catalyst for important strategic changes to the Councils policy on car parking for both visitors and residents.
