Head of the firm of Chartered Accountants, he is also a partner, with his wife, Jennifer Tiptaft, in the firm of Tiptaft, Smith and Co., Secretarial Services, He qualified as a Chartered Accountant when he was with Arthur Young and Co., Chartered Accountants, of London Wall, Moorgate, in the City of London, before returning to Mexborough to joint his father C Paxman Tiptaft MC JP, who founded the firm in 1924.
