Followinga major £800 million architectural restoration and extensionprogramme, the station is now not only home to the Eurostarbut is renowned as a grand retail and hospitality venue with anumber of high quality retail stores, bars and restaurants.Bar Manager, Doni Ramalho said:"We recently had a special offer on strawberries andchampagne and having the centralised system meantthat if someone orders the 'special' then the orderfor champagne goes to the bar and the strawberryorder goes to the kitchen in the restaurant.This saves time for my staff and means we can providethe world class service that customers expect in a barof this quality."The ChallengeOne of the station's major attractions is its new Champagne Bar,Europe's longest at over 90 metres, which runs the length of theupper concourse platform from where the Eurostar train departs.With seating for up to 300 people and serving a vast range ofchampagnes, cocktails and dishes, the Champagne Bar is animpressive centrepiece to the station but its sheer scale presents amajor challenge in terms of maintaining good customer service.The SolutionWorking with solution providers, SPA Till Technology, whobuilt the bar's IT infrastructure, Partner Tech UK has suppliednumerous touch screen terminals at strategic points along thelength of the bar, and amongst the seating areas.With an average of ten staff working at any one time across thewhole bar, one central till was wholly impractical and so varioustills have been installed for quick and easy access, enabling foodorders to be transmitted back to the kitchen via WiFi connection.The tills in the Champagne Bar can also communicate with thePartner Tech tills installed in the restaurant.Partner Tech's Managing Director, Tim Van den Branden said:"We are delighted to have secured this prestigiousorder and it is very rewarding to see our EPOS solutionsoperating in such a world class, flagship venue."
