Establishedin 1994, MIFUMI has directly reached more than 50,000 women withcomprehensive services in education, health-care, micro-enterprisesand domestic violence advocacy. We have a regional network andpartners in Eastern Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and the UK.MIFUMI tackles domestic violence, polygamy, child marriages and thearbitrary and unlawful action among justice delivery agents which isunfairly directed towards women seeking protection.MIFUMIUganda has more than 10 years experience of working within a humanrights framework to address domestic violence in Uganda. Work withthe Uganda police led to a joint resolution; with local councils tothe Kirewa byelaw; with grassroots networks to the bride pricereferendum and the current MIFUMI network which has more than 40local organisations working on domestic violence and bride price.MIFUMI is presently taking bride price to the constitutional court inUganda.
