Whether in academia doing qualitative research, or part of the corporate world researching new products and services, researchers usually have to carry out interviews, focus groups or brainstorming sessions with people to get their opinions and thoughts on different issues or problems. There are also regular presentations, lectures, talks and seminars. The interviews, meetings and events are often recorded and transcribed for later analysis and dissemination.
