Alpaca Cardigans
Fabulous cardigans made from 100% baby alpaca (this is the highest grade there is). Alpaca, a camelid from Peru, is the small relation of the Llama. They live at an altitude on the Altiplano (high mountain plateau of the Andes) of over 3,000 metres and have acclimatized over the millennia to the harsh conditions of their environment, from searingly hot days to temperatures below freezing during the night. For this reason the fleece has evolved into such a special fibre - being lightweight yet extremely insulating. No animals are killed for their fleece, they are shorn annually which is a vital part of the husbandary (so they don't suffer from overheating in the warm rainy season).Alpaca repels odour and bacteria so can be works for weeks without the need to wash. When you do they are machine washable on a wool cycle only.
