Benrhos Ltd - 2 Day Industrial Temperature & Humidity Training Course 2nd - 3rd May 2012 and 17th - 18th October 2012 Introduction Following on from the success of our 2 day residential course in Industrial Temperature Measurement, Benrhos Ltd is offering a 2 day introductory course in temperature and humidity. These courses are designed for anyone who is new to the fields of temperature or humidity and wishes to obtain a good grounding in the disciplines. Learning is provided through a series of power point presentations and practical demonstrations as well as giving students an opportunity try equipment from leading manufactures. Problem solving as well as opportunities for students to ask questions related to particular work related experience are provided. During the course individuals will be accommodated for two nights at a local B&B called Biker's Retreat. Food will also be provided including, two breakfasts, two lunches and one dinner. The course is limited to eight places, therefore early booking is vital. What is 'The International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90)'. Common types of thermometers and their uses. Methods of calibrating and testing temperature measuring equipment. Staffing and training in a laboratory. On-site and permanent laboratory temperature measurements. What are ISO 17025 and ISO15189. Basic uncertainty estimations for calibrations and decision making. Understanding results. Aspects of working in and managing a temperature laboratory. Considerations for the future. Main Training Areas Humidity Why is Humidity Important? Most important applications. Principles of humidity. Definitions, units and terminology Types of hygrometer. How hygrometers work. Humidity measurement problems. Humidity calibration methods. Learning outcomes Following our training course you will have learnt the fundamental introductory areas in Temperature or Humidity to take you further into your chosen area. You will gain a certificate as well as entitlement to further support. You will also be provided with a full set of course notes and a copy of the presentation slides. Lecturer Information The courses will be held by Dave Ayres, highly respected temperature expert, INAB lead assessor and external temperature assessor for UKAS and ISRAC. Dave also conducts lectures in the subject of industrial temperature at Universities as well as conducting onsite training for many customers in the subject. Richard Gee is the Managing Director of Rotronic Instruments (UK). He joined Rotronic in August 2006 as the Technical Services and Quality Manager; this after spending 5 years from 2001 to 2006 in the Humidity Group at the National Physical Laboratory. Richard has a varied experience of practical humidity measurement and has been delivering training courses in the subject for the last ten years. Jeremy Wingate has moved into the field of humidity following a PhD at the University of Surrey and a successful post doc at Forest Research. Jeremy is currently working for Rotronic Instruments (UK) in a sales and project based role, giving him a broad appreciation of the breadth of humidity applications and practical issues.
