Physiotherapy for small animals As well as dogs and horses, veterinary physiotherapy can also be beneficial for other small animals, most commonly cats and rabbits. Physiotherapy is beneficial following trauma, for example a road traffic accident, with lameness, pain or injury, or in an older animal with arthritis and stiffness. It can also help with healing and mobility following surgery. Where appropriate exercises and guidance are also provided to allow the treatment to be continued at home. Appointments can take place at the animal's home, at your vets, or at the Animal Therapy Centre in Heigington, Darlington. Physiotherapy can often be claimed on pet insurance. The first appointment will last for approximately an hour, and consists of an initial assessment and treatment, follow up appointments will be recommended as appropriate. All animals are only treated with veterinary consent.
