A successful first year in business
Family Heritage Search came into existence on the 1st April 2011 and what a successful year it has been. Three major projects completed for 3 different clients, plus many small projects and local research activities completed. The first project completed involved researching a British Family with Indian Ancestry, who were descended from British and Dutch ancestry via the involvement of the the respective East India companies of Britain & the Netherlands. Along the way there was some intermarriage with local Indian women, tradegy of deaths from dysentery, cholera and other diseases, plus the involvement at the forefront of developing the railways and the Indian Civil Service. A bound report and a large professionally printed family tree was produced for the client and was well received by the whole family. The second project also involved research into a Family's Indian background, this time the ancestors were based in Northern India and what is now Pakistan. The research uncovered links to French, Portuguese and Swedish families and uncovered a link to a well known Swedish Missionary, whose ancestry in Sweden had been well documented. A full report of the findings was given to the clients and was well received. The third project involved tracing a clients ancestor who had emigrated to the USA and was never heard of again. The work involved research into US Censuses, Birth, Marriage & Death records, draft cards and much more. The ancestor was discovered living & working in California, at one stage was discovered playing cricket in a report in the local paper of the match. The clients ancestor suffered a number of tradegies in his life, he lost his 1st wife 6 weeks after the birth of their first child, he subsequently put the child up for adoption. He marroed for a second time, to an American Native Indian, by whom he had 2 further children, who sadly both died in their teens of polio, 3 days apart. The ancestor went on to live a long life, dying in his late 80's. Again a report for the client was produced and was well received, as well as being engaged again for further research into another family member. Also had an opportunity to have an article on Family History published in a local magazine, the first time I have managed to get into print.
