Genuine Bakelite Bangles from the 1930s and 1940s
Bakelite Bangles are so wearable and a lot of fun. Geniune items from the past are really collected. Bangles have been very much a fashion item and continue to be so this year.  It is great to group together a selection of genuine vintage bangles with some contemporary to create your own unique look.  Bakelite was actually invented in the very early years of the 20th Century and became known as the material of a thousand uses because of its versatility.  Bangles made of Bakelite or phenolic resins and other early plastics are widely collected today.  They come in a myriad of colours, often in imitation of natural or precious stones like Jade or Amber or even in colours which mimick natural tortoiseshell and ivory.
