An MOT Bay is a range of garage equipment approved by the (DVSA) and is located within a garage or MOT workshop.
The MOT Bay allows a qualified MOT tester to perform the MOT test on a car, van or commercial vehicle. This makes sure that all vehicles on UK roads meet the legal standards set by the DVSA to drive on the roads in this country.
If the vehicle doesn't meet the MOT standards, then the tester will fail the vehicle giving the vehicle owner the opportunity to fix the issue (often at the same garage and at the customers expense) and have the vehicle re-tested once repaired to MOT acceptable standards allowing the MOT tester to issue a pass certificate.
The garage equipment within the MOT bay allows the MOT tester to test each part of the vehicle.

The most important part of planning to open a new MOT station is to ensure the premises are made and set up correctly for the class of vehicle you intend to test.
