Abseiling in the Lake District

01/01/1970

Abseiling in the Lake District As outdoor activities go, abseiling is one of the most thrilling and rewarding with the height of the challenge varying from 7 metres up to 40 metres, for adventurers aged from 5 upwards. The challenge is to descend over a cliff, leaning back in your harness, trusting both the rope and your belayer; abseiling is a great personal challenge and trust-building activity, and an impactful team building activity including peer belaying. We also offer night abseiling in which the abseilers descend into the dark illuminated only by a headtorch. All equipment is provided and your abseiling training is conducted by professionally qualified and highly experienced instructors - you're in very safe hands. An abseiling session typically might last two to three hours and works well when combined with rock climbing or ghyll scrambling in a multi-activity event, or as one element in an adventure journey though the location determines the other available activities. There are many abseiling locations around teh Lake District including close to Ambleside, Windermere, Coniston, Kendal, Penrith, Pooley Bridge, Keswick, Grasmere, Ulverston and others.
