Aviation Optical and Medical Limited is a NEW and UNIQUE company based at Coventry Airport, specialising in the visual needs of aviators and other specialist occupations.Being NHS and DVLA registered we are also able to offer our services to non aviators who may require standard eye tests.Our aim primarily is to improve flight safety and efficiency by tailoring aviator eye examinations to specific working environments to obtain optimal visual acuity in all flight conditions. We have installed on the premises the latest high tech optical equipment and a full size cockpit enabling us to offer you an enhanced visual examination, part of which is conducted on our in-house flight deck where we can simulate bright daylight, IMC, and night flying conditions. We use state of the art diagnostic equipment including visual field analysis, tonometry and fundus photography to assess all aspects of ocular health. On our flight deck, we can tailor visual aids to your specific requirements, for all types of flying whether it's professional, recreational, open cockpit, aerobatic, or helicopter. We will tailor your eye examination and can provide specialist visual aids for such pastimes as driving, golf, skiing and motorcycling. Having in-house glazing facilities we can offer a same day service on most single vision prescriptions. We have a large FREE car park on the doorstep and all visitors are welcome to take advantage of the club house and terrace upstairs. For pilots, Coventry Airport is still a General Aviation friendly airfield with reasonable landing fees and you can park your aircraft right outside our base inside the Coventry Aeroplane Club building.
