 EMERGENCY RESPONSEFIRST AIDCOURSE PROGRAMME OUTLINEA basic three-hour programme for individuals who wish to gain an insight intoemergency procedures and attain a certificate of attendance.COURSE OUTCOMESBy the end of the course candidates will be able to demonstrate the essentialknowledge and skills needed to deal with a cardiac arrest.THE AWARDThe course tutor will carry out an on-going assessment and all successfulstudents will receive a certificate of attendance.THE TRAINERA First Aid Instructor, whose qualifications are acceptable to theHealth & Safety Executive for teaching statutory First Aid and whoseregistration is acceptable to FAST, will conduct the course.The trainer will be informed of any changes to procedures and practices aslaid down by the European Resuscitation Council and the Health & SafetyExecutive.COURSE EVALUATIONAll candidates will be given the opportunity to evaluate the course in respectof the contents of the course, the knowledge and skills of the tutor, resourcesthat were made available and the venue.The students must complete these documents at the end of the course.It will be the trainer's responsibility to collect these forms and return them toFAST. They may wish to take a copy for their own records.These records are analysed by FAST in order to monitor thetrainer's performance and feedback will be given if it is felt necessary.It is recommended that the trainer also analyses these documentsfor the purpose of self-evaluation.EMERGENCY RESPONSE FIRST AID HANDOUTSFAST recommends that the book 'Emergency First Aid Handbook' beused as a handout for the students.
