E-TYPE
e-type is perfect for beginners as an introduction to computers and for those who have used a computer for years but are two finger typists. Good, fast and accurate keyboard skills are essential in today's world. Around 95% of business documents are now electronic and more communication now takes place via email than via the telephone. At school, pupils are using computers more than ever before and usage increases as pupils move on to Further and Higher education. e-type is a flexible and fun way to learn how to touch-type. Learners can develop at their own pace without any pressure, and even practise at home or work. e-type is taught through ten structured lessons that follow a simple and logical sequence. There are clear instructions and the lessons are easy to understand and can be done at your own pace. As you progress you'll get handy hints to help you improve. You can also take a break whenever you want and return to the point where you left off. e-type is the only formal keyboard skills qualification on the Qualification and Credits Framework (QCF) that tests touch-typing skills. It includes the option of the e-type e-Learning material that teaches touch typing as part of the package. BCS offers three different grades at which you can pass a test and receive a BCS Certificate, and these translate to a Level 1 Award or a Level 2. The BCS Bronze Grade is awarded for a speed of at least 20 words per minute (wpm) and 98% accuracy and this will achieve the Level 1 Award. The Silver Grade (40 wpm) and the Gold Grade (60 wpm), both requiring 98% accuracy, will earn the Level 2 Award.
