Feel the love!
York based creative communications team the Big Ideas Collective working closely with local mental health charity Our Celebration (OC) and the York Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) have given their time free to create the logo for the York Year of Volunteering 2010 initiative. With the aim to encourage more people of all ages to get involved in volunteering across the city, BIG Co Director led workshops with a team at OC and York CVS to create an iconic branding that reflects how volunteers and those benefiting feel - bringing out the real sense of enjoyment, accomplishment and collaboration.Ned explained: "This has been a great opportunity for BIG and we've thoroughly enjoyed working with Our Celebration and CVS. From our point of view it's an all too rare opportunity to work with people who have both ideas for and first hand experience of the service we are designing for - like an ideas resource and a review panel rolled into one."Natasha Almond, Youth Volunteer Development Manager at York CVS commented: "The Big Ideas Collective has given fantastic support in both their design of ''s Year of Volunteering' logos and providing a wide range of other creative ideas. Without their creative input and technical support ''s Year of volunteering' would not have gained the momentum or reach that it has achieved."David Smith, General Manager of Our Celebration added: "Working with the CVS and BIG has been a real opportunity for trainees on our work placements who are recovering from a variety of mental health problems. With specialist support from the BIG team they have been able to help design a fantastic new logo and are really excited about seeing their work in publications and posters around the City."Timed to coincide with the opening of the newly refurbished city library at the end of March, look out for lots of upcoming events and activities to get involved with throughout the year.
