Having joined a large multinational company in 1983, I started my 'apprenticeship' in hearing aid audiology working in the West Yorkshire towns of Huddersfield, Halifax and Dewsbury.Having worked for a large organisation for a number of years, I was promoted to Area Manager covering the North of England involving training and monitoring new and existing hearing aid dispensers. In 1993 I was asked if I would be interested in setting up a major new hearing centre in the North East which I ended up running for nine years - however, the 'corporate' way of hearing-aid dispensing began to frustrate me so, after talking with my wife Shirley, we decided to 'take the plunge' and operate as an independent which would give me the opportunity to choose my own products and operate the service element in a more personal manner.We now offer a highly personnal home service in North Yorkshire specialising in Phonak instruments.Free Hearing Handbook available as PDF download

Looking like it came right out of Harry Potter's Diagon Alley, Practical Magick is a magickal curiosity shop specialising in incense, crystals, tarot etc - but we also have lots of things to attract the discerning 'muggle' from delicious bath potions, to fragranced candles, jewellery, tapestries, Lanterns and those interesting little trinkets you just can't resist! We all need a little magick from time to time, and it is my hope that Practical Magick will become the go-to place for all those who know, like we do, that there is real magick within us all. Since leaving University in 1998 Ben has worked as a professional sculptor and model maker. He began his career at Aardman Animations, working on projects including, 'Creature Comforts', 'Tortoise vs. Hare',(the film that never was) and 'Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit ' . Venturing back up North he worked for Mackinnon & Saunders on Tim Burtons 'The Corpse Bride'. He now works primarily in the themeing and exhibition sector, making everything, from a one inch tree frog to a thirty foot alien monster for the 'Top Gear Live Road Show 2008'. Ben has the facilities, knowledge, expertise and a team of skilled craftsmen that can make just about anything, (small or large) you can imagine, in a wide variety of mediums and techniques, and always to the highest standard of finish.

Ben Greenwood Sculptures produces work very much based in the realist tradition, observing the idiosyncrasies of human and animal behaviour. Accurately depicting not only the physical form of a subject but also their unique personality. His work to date has been rooted in this genre, though he is more than willing to take on commissions in others. Ben uses a wide variety of mediums in creating his work, including Jesmonite, reconstituted stone, resin and bronze, to suit each individual piece. In every piece he strives to capture the essence and energy of the split second moment in time, that the subject is in.
