Zed Alley Clayhouse
Business profile
Zed Alley Clayhouse
Pottery school and studio in the heart of Bristol. Pottery courses and workshops in small classes, and a separate spacious members' studio for independent potters. Located in a listed building, once a pub, tucked away between the Christmas Steps and the Bristol Beacon.
Pottery classes
We offer pottery classes in both wheel-throwing and hand-building, from single taster sessions to six-week or twelve-week weekly courses. All classes are led by our friendly teachers who are established potters working in Bristol, and take place in small groups in our two dedicated teaching spaces.
Studio Membership
Our generously proportioned members' studio is a light-filled maker space for people who want to work independently, without a teacher. It is well-equipped with nine potters' wheels and plenty of room for up to twelve potters at a time. All materials are provided included unlimited clay, which is only paid for when work is fired. Members pay a monthly fee which gives them four three-hour sessions per month which they can book through our online calendar. All sessions are supported by a technician and/or one of the founders.
Group bookings
By prior arrangement we can offer bookings for groups of up to 30 people at a time. Our group workshops are ideal for staff well-being days or groups of friends. With 15 wheels and three maker spaces over two floors, we have the flexibility to offer a mixture of throwing on the wheel and hand-building to different groups.
