When first laid, it can look great, but before too long surface growth thrives causing the decking to become slippery and dangerous in damp and wet weather. Why oil your decking? We would always advise that you OIL your decking after cleaning. Once you have removed the surface layer of dirt and algae the 'bare' wood underneath becomes even more vulnerable to surface growth until the wood's natural oils are replaced.
