Business profile

The Green Machine is a brand new aquatics, aquascaping CO2 and hydroponics specialists situated on the outskirts of Wrexham in unit 1a of the Felin Puleston industrial estate, behind Wrexham tyres. The shop provides a unique experience to both aquatics and hydroponics customers. On entering the unit, the initial focus is on aquatics. Three large acrylic tanks dominate the central section of the shop floor, each planted in a different style, but all reminiscent of the style of Takashi Amano, a Japanese aquatics expert at the forefront of modern aquascaping. James and Mark, the owners of the shop, are constantly on hand to offer specialist advice on how to achieve the same effect at home. They are experts on tropical fish, water quality and CO2 systems which are all essential for 'recreating a natural environment within each tank'.Not only do they provide this, but they also offer specialist advice on hydroponic growing systems. Jim said, 'hydroponics and aquatics have many similarities as they are both reliant on water chemistry and the basic principles of plant growth'. The shop provides an extensive range of complete nutriculture hydroponic growing systems, high pressure sodium lights and a full range of nutrients for both soil and hydroponic growing systems. Several different systems are set up in the shop, fully equipped and functional with various tropical plants so that customers can see how they work, 'we will even be selling banana plants that have been grown using this system', added Jim.With tranquil music playing in the background and areas to sit and have lengthy consultations the whole experience is somewhat breathtaking. Add to this the superior original Asian oil paintings and Indian silk rugs adorning the walls, both of which are for sale, and one leaves feeling truly inspired and invigorated.
