Does your business name really matter?

When Miranda Munn, MD for MJM created/started to plan her commercial property website www.novaloca.com in 2007, she came up with numerous potential business names but finally settled for NovaLoca. NovaLoca means ‘new location’ in Latin (to be grammatically correct, LocaNova) hence the name is related to what we do, commercial property, help commercial agents to market commercial property. There is a property website called http://www.findmyigloo.com ; a great example. PropertyWeek.com, tells you the news in the property world on a weekly basis. Yell.com, short for Yellow Pages which is yellow. Logic. IKEA equals flat packs, blue yellow, Swedish, practical. But not many people necessary know what the name IKEA actually means? Does it matter? * When we call agents you often get the reply: “Nova Who?”, or “NovaLoca, you mean like the song” ...and the sing the first line or two!! Whether they associate us with Ricky Martins lines “Living the Vida Loca” or the fact we are the fastest growing commercial property search engine, doesn’t really matter; as long as people remember you. With over 400 companies already listing their office, industrial or retail space, we have registered some great names recently. What have you come across and why do you remember them so well? Please email us on christin@novaloca.com with great company names. (*IKEA is short for Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd, Agunnaryd by the way, the name of the founder and the farm/village where he grew up.)
