Garmin Outdoor GPS Training Courses
Whether you are a complete novice just thinking that GPS may be a useful navigational tool, someone who has never managed to get to grips with the technology, or a GPS user who just wants to learn more, we have a course that will suit your needs and at a venue not too far from where you live. Our courses are practical days with the minimum of class work and the maximum of hands-on experience either on a GPS learning how to navigate and getting to grips with GPS & OS Maps or on a computer finding out how you can use the manufacturers free PC based software to plan & share routes and manage user data like waypoints, routes & tracks. We have found that our courses work best when they are dedicated to a particular brand; so we have moved from running courses open to all devices to courses dedicated to either Garmin new generation devices (New eTrex, Oregon 450/550 and 600 series, GPSMap62 & Montana and Monterra) or Satmap Active 10/12 and this has worked well for both tutors & students We understand that you learn best in small groups, so we run our course on a student/tutor ratio of 1:6/7 with a maximum of 12/13 on a course where we use 2 tutors. However most of our courses are run by one tutor as we prefer it that way and we feel it offers a better student experience. In the coming year (2016) we will be offering our tried and tested 2 day Garmin Courses and Active 10/12 courses and working with our friends at Shepherds Walks we are able to offer Map & Compass training days in both the Lakes & Northumberland.
