Newton Carnival Team was formed in 1999 with an aim to promote community participation within the parish, seeing the revival of the traditional Carnival last hosted by the village in the 1950's This has enabled Newton Carnival Team to offer assistance to other local groups and charities through loan of this much needed equipment, seeing the revival of further carnivals within the parish One of our major achievements has been to secure funding to provide the village with a display of Christmas street lights, designed by our local school children The event proved a huge success, beyond all expectations and an inspiration to organise further activities to enhance our new found community spirit
