In 1993 the Society of Chiropodists added the name 'Podiatrists' to its title reflecting the use of this term throughout the English speaking world and with the objective of securing protection of this title for the State Registered profession The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists is the Professional Body and Trade Union for registered podiatrists We want to lead the development of an international model for podiatry practice We provide members with guidelines and standards relating to patient care, which they must adhere to, in order to comply with membership requirements We ensure that they are evidence based, ensuring patient safety and clinical effectiveness with a focus on outcomes
