Established in 2000, Thoroughbred Genetics is the only commercial organisation in the world to specialise in equine performance genetics. We develop and carry out genetic tests for the racing industry - empowering our clients with genetic tools to help them identify, breed and race thoroughbreds to gain a leading edge. In 2006 Thoroughbred Genetics published ground-breaking genetic results of its 1Blood®project which is already showing enormous implications for the way thoroughbred racehorses are bred, trained and raced. The results of this six-year study were published in the international peer-reviewed journal, Mitochondrion. ­ It is the first proof that there is an association between genes and their role in the individual performances of racehorses.
