UK Cast Stone manufacturers produce some of the best cast stone in the world but they still feel that specifiers' and contractors' awareness and confidence in cast stone needs to be increased. Any cast stone purchased in the UK should comply as a minimum with BS 1217 but should ideally be produced to the higher standard that UK Cast Stone Association manufacturing members must comply with as a condition of their membership. The UK Cast Stone Association produces freely available technical manuals and guidance notes for cast stone and has representation on national standards committees.
