Disability Wessex Advice, is part of Divsere Abilities Plus. It provides advice and advocacy for disabled people, parents of disabled children and families and carers, in Dorset, including Poole and Bournemouth.Specialist services include expert advice on applying for and appealling disability benefits, including Employment and Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance. Assistance is given with applications to the Court of Proection for Deputyship orders for adults who lack mental capacity and help is provided to make a Lasting Power of Attorney and register it.Adovocay and advice is provied on special educational needs, getting a statement and getting a school place.Home visits are available where there is a need.There are charges for these services, but they are subsidised by the charity.
