Home of Fowey Town Crier
This August is the Thirtieth Flora dance and Carnival that Fowey Town crier Michael Penprase will lead, not a bad achievement considering that back in July 1978 when the then chairman of Fowey Hospital Welfare committee Mr. P Mendals first approached Michael and asked him if he would do the job Michael would only commit himself for the year! Following in the footsteps of the previous renowned town crier the late Mr. Ben Johnson was a hard act to follow. Over the years Michael has created a unique style of his own! Proudly Representing Fowey on hundreds of different occasions he has had the honor of being in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen But his favorite times are enjoyed in Fowey and Polruan supporting all the worthy charities and any events he is asked to attend. Look out for him in Regatta week he is often now ably assisted by his grandchildren.
