Bulge in tread
Todays customer has just had his Caravan serviced by a mobile service engineer, the engineer checked the tyres and found a bulge on top of the tyre on the tread area. This is a problem that often can occur when you have hit a pothole and the laminates of the tyre split on the inside, the air pressure then causes a bulge to appear. This is a dangerous situation as the bulge could cause a blowout at any time. A new tyre was soon fitted and the caravan was ready for the open road.A bulge on a car tyre would be an automatic MOT failure, caravans do not have MOT's so it is down to the owner to check their own tyres on a regular basis. Ideally as well as checking the outside wall, you should also look under the caravan at the inside wall as well as around the tread area.
