Trigeminal Neuralgia
Trigeminal Neuralgia, excruciating facial pain that pain likkers cannot relieve can be treated successfully by Acupuncture. It is caused by lesions of the fifth crainial nerve that comes from the brain stem. There are 3 branches of this nerve, one goes across and behind the eye, the middle branch crosses the nose and upper jaw, and the lower branch tracks along the lower jaw. All movement causes pain. Acupuncture works by stimulating the central nervous system, enhancing production of Endorphins- the body`s own pain killers and blocks signals of pain along the nerve to the brain tricking the body into feeling that all is well, until the body has chance to `heal`.
