When a coffee enema is applied, the caffeine and palmitic acid is preferentially absorbed by this system and goes directly to the liver. There, they enhance the production and activity of glutathione s-transferase, an enzyme used by the liver to make the detox pathways run and fight free radicals. Also, the liver is stimulated to produce more bile and move bile out toward the small intestine for elimination and thus frees up the liver to process more incoming toxic materials that have accumulated in the body.
