FAQs
What skip sizes do you offer?
We provide a range of skip sizes to suit different needs. Our skips are available in 2, 4, 6, 8, and 12-yard capacities, making them ideal for everything from small home clear-outs to large-scale construction projects. If you're unsure which size is right for you, our team is happy to advise based on your waste volume and project type.
How long can I keep the skip?
Our standard hire period is up to 7 days, giving you plenty of time to complete your project without feeling rushed. If you need the skip for a longer period, we can arrange an extended hire—just let us know your requirements when booking, and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
What can I put in the skip?
You can dispose of most general waste, including household items, garden waste, wood, bricks, rubble, and non-hazardous construction materials. However, there are certain prohibited items such as asbestos, electrical appliances, batteries, paint, and hazardous chemicals. If you're unsure whether an item is allowed, please contact us for clarification before placing it in the skip.
Do I need a permit to place a skip on the road?
If you need to place your skip on a public road or pavement, you will require a permit from the local council. We can assist in obtaining this permit on your behalf to make the process hassle-free. If you have space on private property such as a driveway, no permit is required.
How much notice do I need to book a skip?
We recommend booking as early as possible to ensure availability, especially during peak times. However, we understand that waste disposal needs can arise unexpectedly, so we offer same-day or next-day delivery whenever possible. Give us a call, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule.
What happens to my waste after collection?
We are committed to responsible waste management and recycling. Once your skip is collected, the waste is taken to our recycling station, where up to 85% of it is sorted and recycled. By choosing Dorset Skips, you’re not only getting a reliable service but also making an environmentally friendly choice.
Can I request an additional collection or exchange my skip?
Yes! If you fill your skip sooner than expected and need an exchange or an additional collection, just let us know. We can arrange to swap it for a new one or schedule a pickup at your convenience. Our flexible service ensures your waste disposal needs are met without delays.
