Business profile

Lily Greenwood - Artist's studio at Manchester Craft Design Centre, one of the few places in the UK where work is created and sold on site. Painting, illustration, prints, cards and gifts. Commissions welcome.Originally from Cumbria, Lily Greenwood graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2005. Her final year was devoted to writing and illustrating a children's picture book, 'Mr Pumfry and the Stolen Eyeglasses', which is now available to buy from www.lulu.com. (Url for the book - http://www.lulu.com/content/305124). Since then Lily has focused on painting and in 2006 became a tenant at Manchester Craft Design Centre, a unique organisation comprising 18 retail/studio units and a rolling programme of exhibitions. Lily now runs a successful small business from these premises, selling original paintings, prints, cards, handmade books, and design-based gifts. She also does occasional freelance graphic and web design. Whilst establishing this she has also exhibited at Bury Art Gallery, Littleborough Gallery, Manchester Bar of the Year 'Odd' and it's new sister bar 'Odder'. Subject matter is usually related to a love of nature, in particular birds, flowers and butterflies. Lily is also greatly influenced by Japanese kimono design and loves using a combination of striking patterns and bold colours. Her aim on the canvas is to strive towards beauty, meaning anyone and everyone can connect with her work. She uses predominantly acrylic on canvas, often combined with inks, watercolours, pastels or collage.
