Fuel Theft on the Rise

26/05/2020

SOARING fuel costs have resulted in a dramatic rise in fuel thefts, with one force reporting a 100% increase. Demand for cheap petrol and diesel across the country has made thieves so determined one haulage firm has been forced to ban its drivers from parking in lay-bys, where thieves prey on vehicles, and has spent thousands of pounds on security measures. Police have been warning rural homeowners, farmers and logistic firms to try and secure their fuel tanks.Sharp Innovations Ltd latest product provides a security measure to combat the frustration of fuel thieves. A simple shock sensor fitted into the cap of the fuel tank sends a monitored signal to the customers alarm panel. When the tank is tampered with it alerts the customer by sending a text message or calling a number of programmed numbers to allow the customer to take immediate action. The system can also be fitted with an audible and visual warning alert lighting the area and sounding an alarm to scare off the thieves. Technical Director Lee Webb assures his customers that security measures taken to combat fuel thefts can be developed and tailored to every customers need.We have adapted the system to be fitted to HGV lorries, powered by the internal battery system, the alarm can monitor both the vehicle and the fuel tank while the driver is either asleep or away from the vehicle during rest times. By installing perimeter door contacts and PIR's into the HGV the system can text or call the driver and the depot when there has been breach in security. We are urging all HGV vehicles to be fitted with this type of security as we believe that these systems can also deter and catch illegal aliens from trying to hitch free rides to the UK through our ports. For more information email lee@sharpinnovations.co.uk or call 05602812785
