For the avid wine taster, you'll be interested to know that in the springtime, the white blossom of the damson orchards fills the Winster Valley and Lyth Valley, east of Windermere. The Damsons are used to flavour wines, gin, pies, cheeses, chocolate, bread, jams and beer.
