CLB Right to Buy Mortgage Claims
Right to Buy mortgages were introduced by the government in 1979 and were extremely popular in the 1980s when around 2 million former council house tenants bought the homes that they had previously been renting. The big advantage with the Right to Buy scheme was that homes could be purchased at a discounted rate of between 32% and 60% less than the market value, depending on how long the buyers had lived there. However, as has been discovered in the years since then, many of these people were mis-sold Right to Buy mortgages by Mortgage Brokers and Financial Advisors, or they were let down by their conveyancing Solicitors.
