This complies with the following guidance:HM Government Information Assurance Standard No. 5 (Secure Sanitisation of Protectively Marked or Sensitive Information) guidance on sanitisation procedures for destroying hard drives containing data up to Impact Level (IL) 3 - Restricted, which is to degauss then destroy using commercial best practice. National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) guidance for the sanitisation of hard drives containing moderate security data (SP800-88) which is to purge the hard disk using a degausser.
