Restoration of Gilding and Paintwork
Vanessa has been involved with restoration of period paintwork and gilding at locations which include St Mary-on-the-Quay Catholic church in Bristol. This project involved restoring damaged paint to the high altar and gilding to other areas. She stencilled the altar wall with grapes and vines in the mid 1980's and has periodically worked at the church ever since.Another on-going project, involves specialist work and restoration at Uphill Manor in Somerset, which is now used as a hotel. Uphill boasts stencilling by JG Crace & Co from the mid 1860's. Where stencilling and gilding had been damaged by water ingress, Vanessa undertook its restoration.
