We had been given the task to install a large patio awning on a new build in Cambridgeshire. The problem was, there were no brick walls to fit the awning to as it was designed and built in the style of a barn. So we had to find a solution that would still offer a safely fitted awning that would withstand wind class 2 or wind speed 5 on the Beaufort scale. We did this by removing the wooden fascia boards and installing a bespoke steel panel with welded studs onto the wooden studding to transfer the enormous pull out forces of an extended awning. the fascia boards were carefully put back and the protruding studs sealed to prevent water ingression. The awning was then fitted to the studs via brackets in the same RAL colour as the awning as the client specified.
