Latest Taiwan Phalaenopsis from Regal Orchids
Regal Orchids announces the arrival of the new taiwanese miniature phalaenopsis orchid varieties now available for sale. Much of the recent Taiwanese phalaenopsis species and hybrid breeding (from big or famous nurseries such as Taisuco or Sogo to the smaller 'hobby breeders') are focussing on more miniature multifloral varieties - that is, plants that rarely become larger than 10-15cm leaf span and will stay in a smaller 8cm pot while producing a good flush of blooms in an excellent range of new colours. Often the breeding also concentrates on introducing the fragrance of Indonesian species into the mix.The picture enclosed shows our 'new blue' doritaenopsis Purple Martin 'K.S'. A hybrid of phalaenopsis violacea var coerulea and doritaenopsis Kenneth Schubert 'Fantastic'. Our plants have the perfect orchid blue colouration and much more of the star shape of the Kenneth Schubert parent than the violacea. Our plants can also carry the fragrance of phalaenopsis violacea and flower on very upright stems. Many are in bud now.This new range of orchids from Regal Orchids are just as easy to grow as other larger types buttake up much less area on the windowsill or greenhouse bench and are at an excellent price. Many are already in bud or with flower stems just forming and some of the phalaenopsis varieties will flower continually for many months from the same stems therefore the stemsshould not be cut off.
