Towards a Holistic Approach - CPD Workshop

Course Outline: This is an experiential workshop held over 2 days, exploring how  mechanisms used in reflexology and acupressure can be used to facilitate and support clients in expressing and managing emotion how essential oils can be used to soothe and contain distressing processes how relaxation and meditation techniques can be used by both therapist and client to manage stress, including the intensity of psychological work. Learning Outcomes: By the end of the workshop you will: Understand some of the mechanisms of stress and soothing present in the "body-mind", and how these relate to some concepts from Eastern medicine Be able to use a basic reflexology technique for yourself and to teach it as self-soothing to clients Know a basic range of essential oils that may be helpful to clients in different mood states Have acquired some new self-care and self-nurture techniques Course Structure: This workshop is heavily experiential will be delivered as follows: Day 1   Morning session:             Theory of anxiety Hand reflexology Afternoon session:         Neuroscience of smell and emotion/memory Essential oils Day 2     Morning session:             Body scripting Posture & tension Afternoon session:         Meditation/relaxation/energising techniques Facilitators Barbara Clarkson PTSTA & Rachel Surtees Barbara is a TA psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer who is interested in how body, mind and spirit can be integrated through the therapeutic process. Her partner in Physis Training, Rachel Surtees, is a holistic therapist qualified in many different ways of working with the body, and in particular the energy systems of the body, through massage, acupressure, reflexology and Reiki.
