Cheshire, Halton & Warrington Race & Equality Centre (CHAWREC) is a voluntary organisation and a registered charity (No.1088019) funded by the Equality & Human Rights Commission, Capacity Builders, Big Lottery and local authorities in the area. Our objectives are to work towards the elimination of racial discrimination and to promote equality of opportunity and good relations between persons of differing racial groups. CHAWREC was founded in 1995 originally as a Racial Equality Council. However, since then we have expanded into dealing with all areas of equality, although we still retain a specialism in race equality work
