It's an occasion that marks the countdown to Christmas and local contemporary choir Got 2 Sing were delighted to be invited to be part of Merry Hill's 'Big Switch on Weekend.' It wasn't just an opportunity for the choir, also joined by their Stourbridge-based Youth Choir, to help spread the joy amongst Christmas shoppers, but also to help raise funds for local Mary Stevens' Hospice. As the choir sang out Christmas classics such as 'Winter Wonderland' and 'O' Holy Night' passers-by dug deep and generously to support this worthwhile cause. The hospice's volunteers were delighted to report that over £255 was raised in just 2 hours! The choir comprised members from Stourbridge, Bewdley, Wolverhampton and Worcester, including some very excited youngsters from its Youth Choir. Beth Dunn, founder and director of Got 2 Sing, commented "This is Got 2 Sing's second year participating at Merry Hill's Big Switch on Weekend and we are so pleased to be part of it...it's a wonderful atmosphere plus it presents an excellent opportunity for one of our local charity's to benefit from the generosity of Christmas shoppers!" Charlotte Schofield, Head of Fundraising at Lottery at Mary Stevens Hospice, added, "This was another fantastic fundraising opportunity presented to us by Got 2 Sing and we thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the day. The choir have now helped us raise over £10,000 to date and this would have been impossible without their support." Got 2 Sing's Stourbridge-based Youth choir will also be participating in Mary Stevens Tree of Light Service - a memorial event hosted by the hospice to remember lost loved ones, on Saturday 28th November at St Mary's Church, Oldswinford.
