TRELASKE HOTEL RESTAURANT LOCAL NATIONAL PUBLICATION Ross Lewin Hazel Billington took over Trelaske Hotel Restaurant on 1st June opening for business on the 3rd. Drawn to the West Country by the natural beauty the deciding factor was the potential that they could see in the hotel, which sits within four acres of landscaped grounds ideally situated between Looe and Polperro and as a gateway to rest of Cornwall. First year aims were to increase all areas of the business, previously trading at around 25-30% occupancy, oh and just generally survive. This was achieved with occupancy levels reaching 84% the successful delivery of two weddings and a number of private functions and culminated in the AA awarding 3 stars, 79% merit score and an AA Rosette for food excellence. This put them in the top 15 AA 3 star hotels in Cornwall and meant they are one of only 39 eateries to have received a AA Rosette. Plans for 2008 are to continue to develop Accommodation and concentrate on out of Season revenue along with increasing wedding business, starting with a wedding Fayre on February 10th. The hotel has two large poly tunnels in which it grows a substantial amount of produce used in the award winning restaurant. The environment is also key and with European funding we have assessed the hotel, drawn up an environmental policy and are now actively seeking to implement it.
